Simple Pleasures: Mismo Cardholders
Recent exploits at Liberty Fairs exposed me, a traditional user of a simple billfold wallet, to the many benefits and styles of the even more minimalist cardholder. Convenient in an age where credit and debit cards are much more commonly used than cash and where sometimes it’s still better to get someone’s contact from a business card rather than an exchanging of phones – the cardholder also provides the benefit of maintaining the slim lines of a pair of pants rather than adding on the bulk of a full wallet.
Having done a considerable bit of browsing the cardholder market upon returning, I’ve stumbled onto a few real gems, but none that caught my eye (and hand) more than Mismo’s simple and incredibly attractive cardholder. The minimalistic design that characterizes all of Mismo’s products is retained with a full-grain cowhide leather that will age fantastically with time and use. The leather itself is exceptionally supple and feels great in the hand, making it something of a pleasure to be pulling from your pocket. There’s also a customized ecru/navy striped interior lining traditional of some of the Danish brand’s pieces.
The cardholder features a five internal slots, all with space for more than one card, providing plenty of room for a number of cards to be carried alongside potential for a bit of cash to be stashed away should you need it. Should you be putting a fair few in under the pressures of an event like a tradeshow you can still rest confident that the seams aren’t going to blow out as Mismo is well known for high-quality construction of their pieces. The single stitched lines are reinforced and certainly won’t be falling apart anytime soon. The brand takes pride in producing the highest quality of goods meaning you know when you buy Mismo that you’re getting something that will last you for years to come, and will look better as the years slip by.
The cardholders are available currently through Vancouver’s Neighbour online in black, navy, dark brown and my personal favourite, tabac. They’ll all run you $90 – which when you think about what you’re getting really provides excellent value for money.
